I staretd podcasting on this site in October of 2004, but it has been well over a year since my last show. Sorry.
I recorded this podcast while I was stuck in traffic on I-85 near Concord, NC. What can I say? The radio was boring and I really like myself, so I decided to just go ahead and give into the temptation to talk to myself for 10 minutes or so while I recorded this podcast for you. I phoned this one into my voice mail, but I have recorded another show that I may post up later this week that I recorded with my laptop riding shotgun beside me.
As best I remember, in this show I talked about the new NBC show “My Name is Earl” starring Jason Lee. This is probably my favorite new show this season. It might have something to do with the fact that I have watched Jason Lee in every Kevin Smith movie since Mallrats. But let’s be honest — what keeps me coming back to this show is the writing — it’s one of the most well-written and genuinely funny shows on TV. The show has now moved to Thursday nights.
I also talked about the Bob Edwards Show on XM Radio. Bob Edwards was the former host of Morning Edition on NPR, but was left the show after nearly 25 years on the job when the morons at NPR decided that they wanted to use their new west-coast facility to bring in a dual-anchor re-design for the show. Bob was kept on with some made up title like “senior correspondent”, but Bob knew he wasn’t going to be in that hole for long. He left NPR to go solo on XM radio’s public radio format channel, XMPR (133). Now “The Bob Edwards Show” leaves him free to interview anyone that he likes and run the show just the way he sees fit. Bob is a brilliant guy and I really love the new show much more than his work on NPR.
See you next podcast.
